The
Leavenworth County Fair takes place every August. It
features competitions in homemaking, farm animals, arts and
crafts and 4-H events. There's also a carnival, dances,
rodeos, demolition derbies and other events. The annual
Tonganoxie Days, the second Saturday of June, features a
barbecue contest, 10K library run, street dance and lots of
arts and crafts booths. Of historic interest is the Honey
Valley Schoolhouse, a restored 1-room school on the Gordon
Harmon farm south of Tonganoxie.

| The Reno
Methodist Church was moved to its present site in 1994. The
original building was built in 1891 but burned in 1918 and
restored the same year. It was used as a location in Michael
Landon's film "Where Pigeons Go to Die," which was filmed in
1989. The church is now a popular setting for weddings and
church services.
